Who: Irei and Open
Where: Market place, next to the magical supplies shop
When: Morning
What: Irei is working on the finishing touches of his costume and goes in search of a certain potion he heard of...

Before Irei had moved to America, he never really put much thought into Halloween. It certainly was not as popular a holiday in Japan as Christmas was. In America though the practice of dressing up at night and collecting candy or going to parties was rather infectious. Sascha especially loved the holiday, and Irei couldn't help but become a part of it.

He stood in front of the magical supplies shop and walked in. He had not ever graced this place with his presence yet, but he had recalled something he had learned a while back ago when he had first met Echo. The second time he saw the pretty little blond teenager, her hair had become significantly longer. She had told him about a potion she found to make your hair grow longer. It sounded perfect for what he had planned.

Irei looked around the bottles of liquids and checked the labels for the magical hair growth formula. The shop was not quite what he had expected, and there were far more magical items in the store other than potions that he would have to come back and study some day. Today, though, he had one goal.

He grabbed a whole bottle of the hair growth potion and waved a hand at the proprietor behind the counter. "Sank you." He walked out of the shop and wondered if the stuff came with directions. He looked at the label and read out loud, "Apply liberally to the scalp. Huh." He shrugged as he walked over to the side of the building, popped the cork, leaned over, and poured all the liquid the top of his head.

Maybe he was over doing it a bit, or being a little to trusting, but Irei had waited until the last minute to get this part of his costume done, and he certainly did not have any time for his hair to grow out. Would this stuff really even work? He shook his dosed hair as droplets fell and he wiped any stray liquid off with his sleeve.

He stood up and felt a slight tingle. Irei was going to be pissed if his hair fell out.

Who: Corisanthias and JC
Where: Lake Van'taurë
When: Lunch time
What: Corisanthias finds a new aquatic playmate and adventures abound!

After his games with Nurray, Corisanthias had decided to learn the ins and outs of the lake he knew he'd be spending a lot of time in. All morning he'd been exploring the rocks and caverns, making note of hiding places and areas to launch from and weave through. As the sun approached its peak in the sky, he felt a rumble in his gut and decided it was time to hunt.

He flexed his webbed fingers and let himself drift in the current, letting his senses take in the subtle flows of the water, feeling more than anything else what was happening around him. Then, he felt it, and he was off, catching the fish off guard and closing his fingers around it. A good sized fish, not bigger than his head but more than enough to sustain his hunger for a few hours.

He bit into it and floated lazily in the sun. Today was going to be a good day.

Who: Theora and Adam
When: Late Afternoon
Where: The Ancient Elven Tree
What: Last minute preparations for the festival

With the Hallow's Eve festival one day away, everyone who had volunteered to help found themselves putting on the finishing touches to the décor. Pumpkin shaped lanterns were strung between wooden poles that surrounded the Ancient Elven Tree, as were garlands of orange, yellow and red leaves. There were group of elves who were busy carving jack-o-laterns, while a group of fae were stringing together flowers for crowns. A group of dryads were urging the trees around them to deposit more of their leaves on the ground, and using their powers change them into brilliant colors.

"Priestess!" A small fae fluttered up to the Elven maiden, her hands holding a half-finished wreath. "I need more Canterbury Bells and Bunny Tail Grass!"

Theora turned to the young fae, taking the unfinished wreath into her hand. "Well this is a perfectly good crown as it is. Do you really need more flowers for it?"

The fae's face turned somber, and her wings drooped a little. It was very obvious that she wanted the flowers to finish her wreath, and Theora just did not have the heart to say no. She sighed a little though there was a very clear smile upon her face. The priestess reached out a hand, her fingers underneath the fae's chin to lift it upward. She smiled at the young fae. "I will gather some for you, but you must be patient since I must travel back to the temple in town."

The small fae beamed brightly, and hugged the priestess around her neck. "Thank you!" She squeaked before she flew away with her wreath.

Theora took a deep breath and prepared for the walk back to the temple. She spotted Adam helping with some of the decorations by the Ancient Elven Tree, and she walked over toward the elemental. He had offered his help when the preparations first began, and while he outwardly looked happy Theora sensed some turmoil coming from deep within him. "Adam!" She called out to him, her hand waving in the air. "Would you mind escorting me to the temple? We have not had a chance to spend time with one another, and I would very much like your company as we travel."

Who: Max and Corisanthias
When: Early Afternoon
Where: Docks, and then the water bungalows.
What: Max is clearing out his boat when he runs into someone familiar.

After lunch had passed, Max made his way to the docks with a pair of sunglasses over his eyes. During winter, he didn't usually need sunglasses as much as he did during the spring and summer, but it was still fall and only recently letting up. He knew he had become such a night owl for a reason, and this was his reason.

He had just left that boat he came in here with tied up to the docks and hadn't taken any of the stuff off it. For all anyone around him knew, everything on the boat belonged to him as did the boat itself. After all, he stole it before he landed here. Max wanted to make the most of it, too. Wasting useful items wasn't any good, so his trip to the docks had a purpose. He was going to get some paperwork or whatever for this hunk of metal saying it was his property now, and then he was going to take anything off it he could use for himself in this new place of residence.

Getting the paperwork was easy and didn't take as long as he expected it might take, so he left the docks with it stuffed in his bag and climbed aboard the boat. Max searched through the cabinet below, all places for storage below and above, and even scoured the outside of the thing. The bastard who owned it was smart enough to not leave any personal items on it. It was frustrating, but nothing worth getting bent out of shape over. Max only found just enough stuff to fill his one bag. One trip was all he needed to make, even if it was a little disappointing.

At least he now had more than what he started with in the first place, which was the whole point. Ending up somewhere new with nothing at all to his name except for what they gave him was nerve-wracking. Max walked along the beach beside the bungalows, glancing over at the people outside on their porches, the walkways, or in the water. They looked happy here, even peaceful. He gritted his teeth, jaw taut in place, as he watched them all while he passed. He didn't recognize anyone. Not yet, anyway.

Max was a stranger in a strange land, and he had to wonder if he'd ever get used to it.

Who: Echo and OPEN
When: afternoon.
Where: the Wine Bar.
What: Echo sneaks in.

Echo was not in the mood to go home just yet, so when people's attention were not on her, she hurried out of the library. Once she was free, the rush of excitement hit her. What to do now? She only paused for a second before starting to walk down the road. Her gaze met the Wine Bar and then she had her idea. Maybe not so many people would be there, but that was just a chance she had to take. She entered the building a minute later and ducked to the tables at the back wall, farthest away from the bar. If she was here, people weren't as likely to notice her. Hopefully.

She rested her feet on the bar supporting the chair legs, neon yellow tights all too obvious below her capri trousers. There were several people sitting around the place, some sitting together and others looking at their drinks as if they possessed some secrets of the universe. Echo had no idea why they preferred to sit alone when talking to someone was much more enjoyable. There needed to be major upbeat music here and perhaps that was only a matter of time before it happened. For now, she looked around and tried to determine who seemed like they could do with a bit of conversation.

Who: Emily and OPEN
Where: starting at the forest cottages, then the mountains.
When: early afternoon.
What: Emily wants to go on a hike to soothe her nerves.

Emily found it difficult to continue with her normal routine. Uneasiness and worry racked her mind every hour and almost every minute - she worried about Malcolm, the children, and who was going to be next. It was a horrible thought and she disliked to entertain the idea in her mind, but someone was determined to ruin the peace people found here. She definitely needed to unwind and perhaps this was the perfect opportunity to take a hike like she had wanted for a while. Hiking was exercise and it could never hurt to have more. Walking from place to place in Elysium was good, although she decided she needed to work on a way to become more toned as well.

Weight lifting was the most obvious choice to improve her muscles. She'd do that later, when she felt up to it. With only five hours of sleep over the last couple of days, Emily found her vision a little blurry around the edges. She left the forest cottage without eating anything and double-checked her backpack to see if she had everything necessary for the day. Yes, she was fairly certain she had and so she started in the direction of the mountains. It was somewhat reckless of her to not worry about when she would be back, but she felt that she had to do this in order to reach some sort of enlightment.

Being in the wilderness, whether it was a small or large area, had a good calming, clarifying effect on her and it was part of the reason she chose to live in the forest. There was something about being surrounded by trees that made her feel better and no doubt the mountains would provide the serenity that the forest could not. She walked slowly although she was eager to get her hike underway, as if to better her chances of finding someone with which to accompany her. Maybe she needed the company instead of being on her own.

Who: Idehr and OPEN
Where: Combat Gym.
When: mid-morning.
What: Idehr works through emotions at the gym. Second character of mine to have a nervous breakdown. Stay tuned for Emily!

Two days passed since Malcolm had almost died and still Idehr was not dealing with it very well. He could not hold a strong facade for anyone long enough, nor was he able to concentrate on anything for an extended period of time. He was such a coward, he was so afraid... he didn't know what any more. That day, he dropped Maddy off at the library, he headed down a road of Helicharism. Idehr didn't know where he wanted to go, but somehow found himself in front of the Combat Gym. He had never gone inside the place before and today he thought he should.

Perhaps it would help him release some of the emotions he had bottled for the last couple of days. Idehr stood in front of one of the punching bags, staring at it, hesitating to punch it. He hit it after half a minute with not that much strength. It made a satisfying noise as his fist met it and he tried again at double the force than last time. Again, and again. He punched it so hard he thought it might crack. Would it die too? Would he run away if something actually died in front of him? He hadn't seen his parents die.

He hadn't seen Edith and Cullen die either. But he remembered staring at their dead bodies before the funeral. He hadn't a chance to see his parents' corpses. Hadn't seen, seen. Seen Malcolm lying there. Idehr had frozen helpless. He did not see it coming, so he couldn't have prevented it. Just like he couldn't have stopped the murder of his parents, Edith and Cullen's car accident... He loved them and they had died. Malcolm had almost been next. Maddy could be next and so could Radu and Aveira. A wordless cry left his mouth as Idehr rammed his fist into the punching bag with all his strength.

Who: Voe and OPEN
Where: Helicharis, by the Medical Pavilion
When: early afternoon.
What: Voe remembers.

The blade of the knife pressed against the skin only a moment before breaking it, blood leaking from the wound. Vanessa met Alix's eyes calmly, unbelievably composed even though there were so many wounds across her body. "Your disgraceful primitive actions envoke no fear within me," Vanessa stated to her enemy. "Victory will never be within your grasp, Alix Preth."

A flash of anger shot across Alix's face and she plunged her knife into Vanessa's stomach, dragging it upwards another few inches, before she smiled. Twisted smile, venomous smile. "Guess what? You're wrong," she said and Vanessa closed her eyes, a small shriek of pain leaving her lips. A sound of defeat.

"Mother!" Voe screamed.

And then she awoke.

Another dream of the past, a nightmare remembering the worst point of her life. Voe started to have them more frequently after her birthday, which she obviously did not celebrate with her mother. A year, yet another year, stretched before her and she realized now that she had failed in becoming a vampiress of which Vanessa could be proud. She could dress the part and try to act accordingly, but she had no group of vampires and few allies for support. She disliked the other vampires she had met - one to rival Alix Preth, another cowardly - and her only comfort was that she found a pure soul in both Volcano and Janus.

She left her forest cottage after she had eaten breakfast/lunch, vaguely noticing that Nathaniel was not in, and wandered in the direction of the town. Perhaps immersing herself around people would help her ignore the fact that she was alone. The journey took a while - she did not care - and she stood in the middle of the road near the Medical Pavilion. A glimmer of gold caught her eye and she stared at the long blonde hair of the woman walking a short distance away from her. It was similar to her mother.

Voe hurried to the woman, hoping against hope - no, knowing - that her mother had found a way to come back to her. She closed the distance between them, reached out her hand to grasp her shoulder and... it was not Vanessa. Voe stepped back and let go, heart sinking to her stomach and throat swelling with grief and disappointment. She had been so sure...

She remained where she stood only for a moment and then she fell to her knees with her head buried in her hands.

Who: Caden and OPEN
When: late morning.
Where: by the fresh water lake.
What: It's Slime Time.

All Hallow's Eve - or Halloween - was tomorrow. Caden decided that he was going to reuse one of his old costumes from university and be The Mask again and as that was all set, he needed to mark the holiday with something special. Something appropriately Caden-like. He racked his mind and his closet for ideas, finding items so very perfect. Water balloons! He wouldn't fill them with ordinary water because that was boring. Slime was the answer. Caden was fond of slime and had been ever since he was younger, discovering that his sisters hated the stuff in their hair. It became necessary for him to know how to make the wonderful goop to place in his arsenal whenever he needed it.

Did he have the essential ingredients? Food coloring and plastic bowls in which to prepare the slime he did have, but he had to search his family's cottage to see if they had any of the others. Thankfully, no, miracurously, his mother had spare Borax and glue which he could use (she had liked to buy things in bulk, after all). Excellent. Oh, so excellent. Caden gathered what he needed from his parents' house as covertly as possible - quite a feat with so many sisters around - and headed back to his cottage for the rest. What was missing, and the most important ingredient at that, was water.

It was time to go to the fresh water lake. He packed everything into a large bag and made the trek to the lake, and when he arrived, it was straight to business. Caden unfolded a plastic tablecloth from the bag onto the ground and also got out what he needed. Borax went into the water bottle and then he went to the lake to fill the bottle with some water. After that, he continued to make the slime. Having slime balloon fights with his friends and other people would be so much fun, he just knew it! A smile appeared on his face for the first time since he started his work. If he had his way, he'd splatter green slime on everyone tomorrow night. Oh yeah.

Who: Nathaniel and OPEN
Where: the forest cottages area and then Helicharis.
When: midday.
What: The Seemingly Insignificant Quest of the Doctor Vampire.

There came a time in every man's life where an inexplicable urge overwhelmed him and his very sanity depended on whether or not he fulfilled it. Sexual desires were in another category entirely and out of mind in this instance. No, Nathaniel Wyatt had this urge right after he drunk a quarter of his lunchly blood. In fact, the more he thought about it, the more it became a need.

He had to have pie. Any kind of pie, as long as the crust was crumbly, the innards particularly fruity and warm and all around pie-like. Months passed without him thinking about this, but withdrawal was a strange creature. He fortunately possessed enough taste buds to enjoy it (he did not want to imagine what would happen when most things became tasteless) and it was a good a time as any to sieze the day. So with this all-encompassing goal in mind, Nathaniel left the forest cottage and headed for the road that led to Helicharis.

Days when he wasn't stuck in the past were few and far between and so he took small comfort in the absence of any negative thoughts in his mind. His gaze focused on the trees around him and the silence, give or take a couple of birds chirping here and there. It was no surprise that he lost himself in the calm of the forest, and relaxed just enough so that his shoulders lost their stiffness. The furrow of his brow lessened and for him that was almost equivalent to a spring in his step. Funny how the goal of pastry could change a man.

Who: Jin-Sang, Sydni
When: 8PM
Where: The freshwater lake
What: Sydni, out for a walk with her dog, finds Jin-Sang swimming

Today had been a fairly good day. Jin-Sang was pleased with how it had turned out. Lately his days had felt slow to the point of almost unbearable until they were broken up by work nights. Tonight, however, he had off. Earlier in the day he'd met a pretty cool guy by the name of Adair. He briefly ran over the conversation they'd had while he grabbed one of his over-sized towels from the closet. The two had a bit in common, at least when it came to generic music tastes. That was always a positive thing, he mused, throwing the towel around his neck on the way out of the cottage. It was a bit of a walk to the lake, but nothing he couldn't survive. JC had swimmers legs after all. They could carry him for miles; though he would prefer not, he could do it. Tonight he moved swiftly across the grass and through the woods where he sighed upon breaking through.

The lake.

Relief washed over him every time he saw it filled to its edges. Sometimes he worried it would all just evaporate leaving him with nothing. That would have killed him. Literally and figuratively. But seeing it there put him at ease and hurried over to the bank. His fingers dipped in to the cool, cold water. Jin-Sang couldn't resist the shiver that ran through his arm and down his back. The motion was of both chill and delight. Once he had watched the movie Titanic and wondered if he could survive such freezing temperatures. He had gone swimming before in some pretty icy waters, though he felt that was pushing it. A few times Lauren had teased him and said he was really from Neptune, the coldest planet. She would have said Pluto but apparently that wasn't a planet anymore. Just a ball of gas.

Anyway. Standing up and throwing off his shirt, leaving his various chains and cross around his neck, the young man stripped out of his baggy jeans, socks, and shoes. Deciding, for modesty's sake, he would leave his boxers on, he dove in. The water was so cold his feet touched the leaf covered bottom some feet in before pushing up. He surfaced with a splash, dramatic almost, with his hands rising to push the long strands of black hair out of his face and away from his forehead after he tossing his head back. "Whoa!" he called at a moderate volume, tone that of bliss. Even in the dark he could practically see the goosebumps lining up on his strong biceps when his brown eyes glanced down. Whatever, he thought, running his wet palms over his shoulders and chest like he were savoring the feel of the cold. Then he picked up his feet and floated forward.

Who: Devin and Zach
When: Afternoon
Where: Alchemy Labs
What: Alchemist meets Alchemist (let me know if this is okay!)

Well, this was Devin’s luck. The day he decided to actually visit Helicharis during the day, it was rather nice outside. He passed many people equally pleased about the good weather but his eye contact with them hardly stated that he was pleased about anything. He often made sure to give off a look that made it clear he was not on a walk meant for mingling. He wanted to scope out the shops by his lonesome without a pain in the ass chattering about how delighted they were about the weather. The alchemist didn’t want to deal with new encounters either. His previous interactions were..not so great.

If Devin let anyone get to know him, they would realize he was very difficult to please. That was why he never spent more than fifteen seconds checking out a shop. Obviously he would go to places that provided food for his home, but places for wants more than needs didn’t appeal to him. However, when he came across the alchemy lab he tried to resist the urge to step inside.

After a few moments, he actually gave into his curiosity and stepped inside. Figuring no one was inside he lit a cigarette and began to look around the area. Well Christ, the place wasn’t all that unimpressive. Better than having to go to the Sweets shop or something. Nice looking women in there, but he wasn’t going to indulge himself in eating that shit.

“No one works here?” He smirked in amusement. “Shame. Watch out for those coal robbers.”

Tuesday: October 30th, 2007

Who: Jin-Sang, Adair
When: Mid-day/1PM
Where: Helicharis
What: With such a nice day once it warmed up, Jin-Sang is out and about

The morning of the 30th Jin-Sang had been pretty skeptical about the weather. He had assumed earlier on when he woke up that it would be chilly and not the kind of day one wanted to go out in. Living in New England left him out of the know with weather when it came to places closer to the equator. When he stepped outside for a bit of fresh air around eleven he changed his mind. It was nice out, how wonderful! Smirking to himself he showered and dressed, figuring a walk would do him good. They were all he did as of late, but he enjoyed his little treks out in to the real world. Sometimes he saw mischief about, people together having fun. He felt a little sore when he watched them, but tried to keep positive.

Why had he reverted in to such a quiet state, he wondered?

Taking off, the door slamming behind him naturally, Jin-Sang shook his head. Fingers ran through the long, black strands, pushing them back out of his face or across his forehead. He always looked pretty good, so he thought, and tried to appear as clean as possible. It was nice to take such good care of oneself, to take pride in ones own appearance. Sunglasses were slipped on over his eyes, hands then fitting in to his slimming sweater, Jin-Sang made his way over to Helicharis. He'd check on a jacket he'd asked for a few days passed, but when he found it wasn't done he stepped out of the store. Hm. Well. Time to browse.

Beginning to hum again, trying to keep a cap on his gift, his shoulders moved with the song suddenly stuck in his head. The words were in English though occasionally some Korean would slip in there. He chuckled when he realized someone had been watching him dance around. What a goof. Stopping, he turned his back on his small audience to look at something in a shop window. That was certainly a great way to be noticed, he thought. Make a fool out of himself.

Who: Heath and Adio
When: Early Afternoon
Where: A random place of seclusion
What: Pass the dutchie on the left hand side

It had taken days for Heath to feel like his normal self again after the night of the full moon. He really was pissed about that, mostly because he couldn't remember what had happened. But if he ever saw that man again, that much he remembered, he was going to have words with him. He felt... used. That wasn't something that he was used to. It was really quite different to be on that end of things. He was always the user, never the one that got used. It was almost enough to make him rethink some of the things that he had done in his life. Almost, but not quite.

Today was the first day since that day that he had decided to make an appearance in the town again. He needed food and there was nothing in the house that he cared to eat. The color had come back to his skin and he wasn't feeling weak or dizzy anymore so it didn't seem like it would hurt much to have a walk down to the market and back and see how he felt from there. And that had certainly been his attention when he had set out, and that was where he had gone first, to the market, but after, he didn't head straight home.

There was something about the woods that seemed to evoke some sort of memory. And though he tried to just ignore it and walk back home, mostly so he wouldn't have to hear Heather's mouth about him being out, he couldn't stop himself. His curiosity was definitely going to be the end of him one day. That much was proving certain. But today was not going to be that day. This much became clear after just a few moments' time.

Heath was not a supernatural. He had no senses that would clue him in on things more quickly than others. But when it came to certain smells, it was like he targeted them. He knew them so well, they were so familiar, that it was impossible for him to not take immediate notice. And the smell of marijuana was one of those smells. He could smell it in the air, and it wasn't all that hard to follow the scent to the source.

Who: Hayate and Chris
When: Early Afternoon
Where: Silmé Lagoon
What: A boat ride out to the lagoon.

To describe Hayate as a morning person would be far off base, but it was true that he did not sleep very often. Normally, he received no more than four to five hours of sleep for every twenty-four hours. While that habit had not changed, another one had changed quite drastically over his time spent in Elysium. Once he prowled the streets only at night when the sun could not burn right through him. He did not have to worry about the sunlight any longer, though, not in the safety of this ravine. He spent most of his day and night awake, sleeping just right before dawn out of old habit and yet awakening in the mid to late morning.

He had ever been out in the day until recent months, remembering more the lack of sunlight throughout his long life rather than the short years of sunlight before the end of it. Most people had believed vampires to be the undead. Hayate himself believed he was a demon for centuries. Even now in the sunlight, he did not think of himself as alive in the way he thought of Chris as alive. He glanced over at her on the boat, the blinding waves glistening behind her. The sun was bright today, and the air was brisk over the freshwater lake. However, they took a path towards the lagoon further south. The shelter of the mountains and trees, as well as the warmth of the lagoon rising from the waters, blocked off the strength of the cold air.

Cold did not bother very much, but he still preferred warm weather to cold. He was not a fan of winter or its dead landscape. No, in the summer everything was much more alive.

Hayate turned to Chris, squinting his eyes even behind the shield of his shades. They often spent time outside as well as indoors, even though Hayate had never been one much for these sorts of hobbies. He had faked them for Kaiya, and it did not go over well. Yet with Chris, he actually seemed to enjoy these things. Things like boating and festivals, games and playing. Things he once enjoyed, a very long time ago. Perhaps she was bringing it all back to him — like dregs of water at the bottom of a cup despite its fullness.

She was bringing it all back to him in a way no one else could invoke in him.

As the boat crept further into the lagoon, Hayate noticed how it appeared as if steam were rising from the warm waters. "Chris, look," he said, pointing at the surface of the basin's water. His hand curled around the mast as he leaned forward, his eyes gazing over the edge at the crystal blue water below. All year long it was crystal blue, and all year long it was as warm as beach water in the Caribbean.

He turned to look at Chris, smiling incandescently at the young woman. "If it were night," he said, jerking his head towards the water, "that would be creepy."

The warm bonfires around the Tiki Hut served to heat the air all around the outdoor bar. It lent to the tropical theme of the area. Even though the air was chilly, the sky was clear and the sun was not marred as it began its descent toward the horizon. The Tiki Hut was littered with customers, but not so much that it made it hard to maneuver. It seemed as if people wanted to enjoy as much of the outdoors as they could before it became cold enough to freeze a witch's nipple.

Dominic wove his way through the small crowd, pausing a few times to dance a few steps with a honey on the dance floor, or to steal an unattended drink from a nearby table. He hadn't properly explored Elysium since the boat docked a week ago. The siren had spent most of his time cleaning up the vast ship and readying it for its next journey when it would leave Elysium. The schedule hadn't been set yet, but it would no doubt leave within the next month.

Dominic had only settled into his water bungalow the day before. He didn't have many belongings with him; traveling by sea was always easier when there was no cargo to worry about. He had a duffle bag of clothes and a few personal items; it was all that he needed for survival. He knew he could anything else he needed from the haven itself. Thankfully, the bungalow came fully furnished and he didn't have to worry about where he would rest his head for the night.

He sauntered up to the bar with a smirk right there on his face. He saw Loki mixing drinks and chatting up the customers. It had been a while since he'd seen his god-nephew and Dom was happy to just watch him for a few minutes. "Barkeep!" he finally said to draw the muse's attention. He leaned against the bar with his left arm along the counter. "A Long-Island... Stat!"
